PRESERVING THE HERITAGE OF PRIMITIVE ARCHERY
Formed in 2009, the Oklahoma Selfbow Society and it's members are driven to pass along our love for traditional archery. Our members come from across the United States and Canada, representing a broad cross section of like-minded people who’ve discovered the allure of the traditional bow. An extension of a unique movement that began across our nation in the late 1980’s, the OSS continues to be a part of that renaissance recognizing the beauty and satisfaction of a craft once considered antiquated. Born of the vision of only a handful in the heart of Oklahoma, the OSS has grown to a membership of hundreds, and through its many activities has hosted thousands. Whether through its annual education-day meetings in the winter, student scholarships, hosting of state selfbow championship competitions, or through OJAM, the club’s premier hands-on teaching event each spring, the Oklahoma Selfbow Society continues to pursue the vision and challenge of those original few by extending an invitation to all who would join us in finding the joy and satisfaction in the primitive art of bow-making. |
